Plaster repairs Gold Coast – wall patching and painting by SURVE

Ceiling & Cornice Repairs

Ceilings take a beating on the Gold Coast: roof leaks after summer storms, air-conditioner and bathroom leaks, cracked set joints from the house moving, and cornices that pull away from the wall. I repair ceilings properly: cut out the damaged section, replace or re-fix the plasterboard, set the joins, sand smooth and paint so the ceiling looks whole again.

I’m Dan, and I do every repair myself, with 35+ years in the building industry behind me. Before I patch a water-damaged ceiling, the leak has to be found and fixed by a plumber or roofer first, otherwise the stain comes straight back. I’m happy to tell you what I see and who to call.

Safety first: a ceiling that is sagging, bulging or holding water should be looked at straight away. I’ll check it on site before quoting, and if it needs a different trade, I’ll tell you honestly.

Water-Damaged & Cracked Ceiling Repairs

Ceiling repairs Gold Coast homes need are usually one of three things: a water stain or soft patch from a leak, a crack along a plasterboard join, or a damaged cornice. Each is repaired so the finish blends into the rest of the ceiling, then sealed with a stain-blocking primer and painted in ceiling white or your existing colour.

I contacted Surve after reading the positive reviews. We required a quick turnaround on various jobs at an empty investment property. Dan and Sue went out of their way to accommodate such a late notice request even working weekends to fit us in. Their communication was great, the itemised invoice and photos were very beneficial as we don't live close by and rely heavily on communication, photos and a professional operator. Highly recommended.

Dan was the best. Not only was his work top quality, he communicated everything clearly and was a joy to have in the house. Sue was also great with prompt responses and booking queries. I can't recommend Surve Property Maintenance highly enough. They will be the first to call next time I need something.

Common Questions

Yes, once the leak has been fixed. I cut out any soft or damaged plasterboard, patch and set it, then use a stain-blocking primer before painting so the mark does not bleed back through.

Most ceiling cracks are along plasterboard joins and come from normal house movement, temperature changes or poorly set joins. They can be re-set and painted. Wide or growing cracks with other signs of movement should be checked by a building inspector first.

Yes. I re-fix loose cornices, fill gaps where the cornice has pulled away from the wall or ceiling, and replace short damaged lengths where a matching profile is available.

Ceilings are usually painted in a flat white, so the repaired area can be painted to match. For the best result I may suggest repainting the whole ceiling in that room.

It depends on the size of the damage. See our pricing and FAQ, or send photos for a free quote.
